Very interesting:

  • Female
  • mother of five (one of which is in the military)
  • as governor of Alaska she has a unique credibility to speak on oil issues
  • successfully finessed a pipeline project that may cut our natural gas imports almost in half within 10 years
  • has a child with Downs and thus a unique perspective on sanctity-of-life-besides-abortion issues (not that she needs the so-called “moral authority,” but it sure helps politically)
  • has a record of fighting corruption and unethical activity, even in her own party

I’ll be honest, I looked up some stuff on her the other day and thought she would be too good to be true.  Now that he has actually picked her, I think McCain might stand a fighting chance.
